The February sermon series at Crossroads will be called “Mammon". Mammon is used in the gospel of Matthew to refer to money or material wealth and is commonly associated with the greedy pursuit of gain. We will closely consider Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and desire the other. You cannot serve God and money" ("mammon” in KJV). This is an annual series at Crossroads to take very seriously a topic that Jesus talks more about in the gospels than heaven and hell combined and only second to the “Kingdom of God.” 11 of the 39 parables are about money and 1 out of every 7 verses is the gospel of Luke are about money. We will consider how to take Jesus’ words very seriously so that our lives serve only God.
